I cannot find the option to link TurboTax to Wealthfront anywhere in my TurboTax account. Please help.
Note, this is not a case of me having problems with the password I've entered (which is what most of the people on this thread are reporting). In my case, I cannot even find where I'm supposed to enter the app-specific password in my TurboTax/Intuit account.
I see people mentioning things such as "On turbotax, wealthfront connection provide your userid/email as usual but then use the app specific password".
However, where can I find the option "turbotax, wealthfront connection"?
Could somebody please help me to understand how I can find the option to enter an app-specific password in my Intuit/TurboTax account?
I think I found the detail here: https://support.wealthfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/[removed]-How-do-I-import-my-tax-information-into-...
It looks like you can only do the link between the accounts when actually preparing your tax return?
You need to go into Step by Step Mode and then select the following:
Wages and Income
Investment Income
1099B - Brokerage Statements
say "yes" - you have a 1099-B
select "Let us Import Your Investment Sale Info"
select "Import from My Bank or Brokerage"
select Wealthfront and you should be good to go
This is super helpful, thank you!!
It appears that you were trying to access the download before the 1099 was even available. I just got email from WF yesterday, so I did not try previously. And given the difficulty in entering the password, I'm not sure why anyone would want to.
And I agree that this is a poor technical decision on TurboTax's part to both not allow pasting into the password field AND not allowing you to unmask it to make sure you typed the password properly. Either one is bad (and wrong), together they are inexcusable. How did the usability people (assuming TT has such a group) allow it, or do the security people overrule them for what is a completely bogus security concern? And I'd say to complain to TT, but they didn't change it after the uproar last year, so I don't see them changing it now. I wonder what security "best practice" they are basing this poor decision on.
BTW, I have a program I downloaded last year which will (hopefully) allow me to paste the password. Have not tried it again this year. Update: tried the program and it worked agai.
