Yes! This worked for me too. It was driving me insane not being able to see my refund status as I entered information. Thank you!
I hate the fact that the running meter is now gone. This will be my last year using TurboTax.
Agreed, 17year in a row using TTax. This was the #1 feature for me. 2hrs of searching and trying the fixes have had no effect. I'm done with TTax :(
@MrsE , @JulieS - This fix to retrieve the refund progress meter doesn't work for me either. I knew it wasn't completely accurate anyway, but it helped me to track my progress just by being there. I have spent the last two days trying anything I can to bring it back and it doesn't help that I'm down to just 10 days to file. If they wanted to remove it why didn't they at least make it available for people to reactivate in some way. If enough people feel as I do about how they treat loyal return customers they may be losing a large amount of customers next year.
Same problem. None of the suggestions help.
However, if you click on Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary (under Other helpful links...) you can see the current return.
It's certainly not as helpful as it is on screen, however, and I'm probably not going to continue to use TurboTax as a result.
No true at all
Doesn't work. This is frustrating! this will definitely be my last year
Did not for me
This is a terrible change from Turbo Tax. Some of us use the running total to determine how much in deductions to NOT take in order to show higher income on a rental property. We are not paying too little in taxes, we are voluntarily paying much more than we need to!
Turbo Tax is taking away the most valuable part of the program that helps us understand how different deductions affect our tax liability. Please, please, please bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have started to enter information such as a W-2, and don't see the meter, go to the Federal Review section. Click all the way through ignoring the prompts to fix things and the meter should turn back on.
Then return to the section needed to enter your other income or deductions/credits.
It COMPLETELY sucks.
I will echo that removal of the owed/refund bar is a huge mistake by Turbo. Not only for convenience but for error-checking and a second review. I can tell when something is wrong if the progress moves too much or not enough before finalizing. Now, I had to wait until the end to realize there were several misses.
And I also echo another complaint about Turbo asking for many more questions about things I already completed or things I cannot yet complete (like filling in state balances during the Federal review).
Both just give me less confidence - please bring the refund/liability progress bar back!!! Especially if it's available to others (none of the work-arounds worked for me).
@PaulaM - I need to thank you so much for your information! I have tried similar fixes that didn’t go so far yours did. I have spent the last two days trying this and that which are suggested, but with no success. I hope the other people that have replied to my post try this and also get the same success. Perhaps someone connected with Turbo Tax will see how many people are having this issue and realize how important this feature is to so many people and how they are ready jump ship to another platform. Thanks again, you have truly made my day!!!!!
This is unfortunate. For business owners that is a useful tool. I usually have an abundance of expenses and because I'm not required to claim all my expenses, seeing a real-time total of how my expenses are affecting my overall money-owed was helpful.
