I would re-check your W2 to make sure the Box 12 entries are correct and do not mention adoption benefits.
If the W2 looks good and it is still preventing you from filing, I would delete Form 8839, Qualified Adoption Benefits, from your return.
Hi, thank you for responding. Box 12 only has my health coverage listed. I have tried multiple times to delete the form as you suggested, but I am still being prevented from filing. Every time form 8839 comes back up with a pre populated number that my employer supposedly provided. That number is nowhere on my W2, so I don’t know if this is an issue with my W2 or TurboTax.
Thanks again
OK, so I would try walking through the Adoption section and blank out each box with data in it.
When you go to the Adoption section, answer Yes to the first question so that you can get into the file. Walkthrough the pages and if you see an amount or words put in any of the boxes, blank them out. Make all the boxes blank, with nothing in them. When you come to the end, where it says Here is your adoptive child info, delete all of the entries. Then go through and attempt to delete the Form 8839 from your return again.
