I can't even get mine ordered. I have tried numerous times and I keep getting oops, we hit a snag please enter payment method again. What is going on with Turbo Tax this year???!!!
Agreed. This is very disappointing in that there is no way to do year-end tax planning, deciding whether to do roth conversions, make employer 401k contributions from my self employment, without knowing the trickle down effect on QBI, taxes, MAGI and how it affects my medicare costs, etc. Turbotax should at least put out a "tentative" program to enter estimated investment gains, self employment schedule C expenses, etc. so you can run sample returns.
And schedule E not ready. Using the step by step. It's especially bad this year. Usually I can do everything the day after I purchase it Saturday after Black Friday except for depreciation. Appreciate Volvo girl for pointing out the what. If function on the 2024 return. It does help somewhat, but wish it would estimate qbi as well.
Annoying! Trying to get a headstart. I already know my income and expenses for my rental unit. As of 12/6/2025 TurboTax won't let me enter ANYTHING for this year. I think it said forms would be available in February. Usually I am finished and have submitted by early February. This is on top of having to buy a new computer with Windows 11 in order to use the desktop version. Bah!
anybody know if H&R Block or others are also delayed so long?
Check here for the "expected" forms ready dates:
________________
That indicates Sched E should be ready on/after 17 December.
I ran into the same problem after purchasing. Not only is it incomplete, it crashes on some of the "Done" with buttons. Completely useless to get an estimate and making any adjustments to my withholdings for the rest of the year. Going to try the free stuff now and won't use Turbo Tax in the future.
Once again, those dates are when the forms will be ready to print for filing, or ready to e-file, just like it says at the top of that page. Those are NOT the date when the forms will be in the program itself good enough for estimations. For example, Form 1040 shows available to print December 17, but that form is in the product as released early November.
I've been doing December estimates for more than 30 years and I've never seen TurboTax not have almost all forms in the product at release time. Not for filing, not final, not bugfree, but there good enough to do estimations.
This lack of being ready for doing end-of-year tax estimates is new. Indeed, Intuit promotes TurboTax as being "Up-to-date on the latest tax laws so you have the latest information" when they are selling you the product in November, and it clearly is not.
I agree. It is December 9 and I'm trying to make end-of-year plans, particularly for an RMD. But TT won't let me put anything in for capital gains/losses nor business income. It is an expensive product I've been using for years, but it needs to have basic functionality when each year's product is released. And while I'm on this rant, how about a much better calculator built in to the software for estimated taxes (the 2025 product should have this available for 2026 estimated taxes)?
I did my pre tax calculations using FreeTaxUSA. It is free and you can do 2025 taxes! No more purchasing Turbo Tax for me. A free and better tool that is updated earlier! The interface is so much nicer than Turbo Tax.
Since the IRS has not finalized all their forms no Tax Software can be completed until the IRS is finished. And that could be in January.
Nobody is talking about having forms ready for filing. Did you not read my post? Of course, the software isn't ready to be used for filing, and some sections of the interview aren't quite done at this point, but TurboTax has ALWAYS been useful for doing December estimates. I've been doing that for 30 years. This year is different.
The product they sell in November is claimed to be already up-to-date with the latest tax changes. And it isn't.
Not talking about specific forms or actual filing, just getting data in as placeholders to do a calculation sufficient to make year-end decisions. Obviously we don’t have 1099s or W2s yet, either. But we can estimate if we have a place to enter our estimates.
Its December 10 and one can still not insert charitable contgributions into the desktop version. This is nuts. I understand that rules may have chnaged but simply for estimating what might need to be paid on Janauary 15 or extra witdhheld from year end wages it should be available. Also getting rid of its deductible is nuts. Why get rid of it.?
This is the review I left at Amazom:
I have used this version for so many years now it's just part of my yearly routine. I tried others early on but found this meets my needs and expectations. However:
This is the first year I can remember that they have released such an unfinished product.
No Schedule C ready, not even an outline.
Maybe they will have it done by February.
It surely would be nice to know this BEFORE is bought and installed!
So disappointed in this product release this year.
