Yes, the "loop" issue has been going on for several weeks , as well. I have been able to get around it by clicking on Income and then jumping to the next section. Not sure what TurboTax has done this year, but it has a lot of issues. I have been using them for over 15 years and it has never been this bad!
Thanks, yes by manually clicking another section I get out of the loop. Thanks again.
Hello TurboTax... I'm using TT Deluxe. TT SW just updated as I started the app, entered more return info, and I'm still having the restart issue after closing out the client app (the issue that's been here since since installing TT for TY 2021). I'm having the issue whether I start a new return or update one I've been working on already.
Can this please be fixed? Please??? (I've never seen this situation until this year. Makes me wonder if there are any issues lying in wait that could impact my taxes.)
Still doing this for me. No resolution yet.
I'm having this same issue. I also notice that if I click SAVE in file menu or type Ctl-S, and then try to exit the program using the top right X, it again asks if I want to save my return. I just savee it, it should know that. In any event, after closing TT, it always restarts, but then I can just exit using the top right X.
Having the same problem, version 2021.47.21.82. Keeps restarting after I shut it down. Also so slow it's unusable, takes 30 seconds to respond to each entry, screen goes opaque and it says it's not responding. I did 4 other returns and had no problems until today.
I have a very similar problem. When I close a session, TurboTax restarts, but then appears to go away. What happens is it goes into a background mode that will not allow me to launch the app again. I get a Error 70001 " Already running by another user", even though there are no other users on my PC. I just updated yesterday to Ver 2021.47.22.85 It still does it.
It is now 3/31/22 and the program is still doing the re-start for me. Like it crashes and Windows tries to restart it.
It restarts for me on Windows 10 when I close and say yes to save the file. But if I say not to save it doesn't restart. So if you changed anything and want to save, first go up to File-Save.
I suspect they over-fixed a previous problem. In past years, after a program update, TT would fail to restart as it was supposed to. Perhaps in fixing that issue, they created this one.
What I think is happening is that the setting to restart the program after a software update has gotten stuck. The question is how harmful is this. Well it depends on what is being done. Reapplying the same software update could be ok, until it gets interrupted some how. I'm letting it do it this time around. I say this time around because I got all the way though to the federal review and TT had inserted many crazy additional forms into my return and then errored them because nothing was entered into them. Nothing I could do would clean up the situation so I deleted my return files, removed TT, clean registry and am trying again. I'd let it do whatever it is doing and just try and get though to a finished return.
Agree with other posts, worst experience ever this year after decade plus user. Built a lower level basement to fall thought the floor into. Seriously need to reconsider options next year. The company that gets you need to be collaboration tool rich for distributed software development is going to win. Spend now so you don't loose even more when the next covid round pushes up your remote workforce. I'm a multi discipline advanced computational edge architect and I have never ever seen it so bad across hundreds of software titles I use. It's a new game to keep your market - who is going to win? TT seems unlikely too.
That is not a "Windows" problem...it's TurboTax for Windows problem... the thread you provided does NOT solve the issue nor does it answer the question.
