On a 1099-B I received, the trading fee dollar amount is not indicated on the form - just the proceeds amount. I do know the trading fee dollar amount.
This particular 1099-B has two entries; one entry for long term shares shares not reported to the IRS (Box X) and long term shares reported (Box D) to the IRS. Turbo Tax Deluxe (Windows 11) interview asks if there were sales trading fees.
Is it an acceptable practice to input the trading fees total dollar amount to either the Box X or the Box E entry only - or is it preferred that they be pro-rated and entered for both the Box X and Box D entry. The total trading fee amount was $27.

The fees should be entered with the transactions they apply to; however, given the minimal dollar amount involved I don't think it would matter if you applied/entered them to a single category.
Thanks David. I will proceed with entering the trading fee to the larger number of shares sold transaction. The other transaction involved 0.35 shares.
