ps i was a turbotax user. the prompt for 1095 has now been added back for new filers
Soooo are me and my husband! Same exact situation!
I generated the form and faxed it to the IRS, then called turbo tax who said that we should call and verify that the IRS received the form; soooooo... the IRS today said that those docs get sent to the errors department, and it could now take 8 weeks to find anything out! I want my money back!!!
For assistance with this, you can call TurboTax and speak with an agent. TurboTax customer service/support does not have a single phone number but has many different phone numbers based on the type of platform used. So that we can direct your call to the best person/department to help you:
You'll get a toll-free number to a TurboTax expert who is specially-trained to handle your particular issue.
"Irene2805 Employee Tax Expert"
It goes to the Reject Dept at IRS. They WON'T verify that the fax was received. I've read it'll be about 21 more days before we get a refund date. Complete and utter BS. If there had ONLY been a freaking prompt, this would have been so easily avoided.
Same here, I was NOT prompted for a 1095-A and the IRS is now requesting my 1095-A and form 8962 and my return, which I REALLY need, is not delayed probably by 2 months...this is not a good tax filing experience this year at all...
You will need to get the form 8962 filled out. The directions are correct, although odd.
The IRS may adjust your refund once they receive your form 8962.
I regret my good review earlier this year for Turbo Tax. The way the W2s were already uploaded was great, Super easy to do-but the following nightmare re: my 1095 A and 8962?!?! not okay! I am paying to basically do my taxes twice it seems, I should be able to fill in my medical info from 1095 A into turbo tax and YOU should figure out if I am poverty level or not! I paid for this service but have spent hours figuring out this BS. Next year I will hire a private professional, I am done with Turbo Tax. Thanks for the extra headache!
Same got letter now delay
If you go to: IRS.gov/Form1095A, it clearly states the following..........read the "Who must file"....
And if you read this you might begin to understand the problem.....
Many of us have already read the instructions, faxed the form after calling the IRS.... the called Turbo Tax to be told to verify the form has been received to be told that it doesn't matter you won't know for 8 weeks.
Turbo taxes error outlined below in the its instructions has injured the most vulnerable people in this country........
NOT OK TURBOTAX!!!,
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT!
The thousands of people who paid to be inconvenienced should tell others via social media so that those who have yet to file go without much need money!,

General Instructions
Purpose of Form
Form 1095-A is used to report certain information to the
IRS about individuals who enroll in a qualified health plan
through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Form 1095-A
also is furnished to individuals to allow them to take the
premium tax credit, to reconcile the credit on their returns
with advance payments of the premium tax credit
(advance credit payments), and to file an accurate tax
return.
Who Must File
Health Insurance Marketplaces must file Form 1095-A to
report information on all enrollments in qualified health
plans in the individual market through the Marketplace. Do
not file a Form 1095-A for a catastrophic health plan or a
separate dental policy (called a “stand-alone dental plan”
in these instructions).
When To File
File the annual report with the IRS and furnish the
statements to individuals on or before January 31, 2020,
for coverage in calendar year 2019.
The requirement to furnish a statement to individuals
will be met if the Form 1095-A is properly addressed and
mailed or furnished electronically (if the recipient has
consented to electronic receipt) on or before the due date.
If the regular due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or
legal holiday, furnish the statement by the next business
day. A business day is any day that isn't a Saturday,
Sunday, or legal holiday.
How To File
Electronic filing. You must submit the information to the
IRS electronically. Submit the information through the
Department of Health and Human Services Data Services
Hub.
Statements to Individuals
Furnishing required information to the individual.
Marketplaces use Form 1095-A to furnish the required
statement to recipients. A separate Form 1095-A must be
furnished for each policy and the information on the Form
1095-A should relate only to that policy. If two or more tax
filers are enrolled in one policy, each tax filer receives a
statement reporting coverage of only the members of that
tax filer's tax family (a tax family may include the tax filer,
the tax filer’s spouse if the tax filer is filing a joint return
with his or her spouse, and the tax filer’s dependents).
See the instructions for line 4 for more information about
who is a recipient. Don't furnish a Form 1095-A for a
catastrophic health plan or a stand-alone dental plan. See
the instructions for Part III, column A.
On Form 1095-A statements furnished to recipients,
filers of Form 1095-A may truncate the social security
number (SSN) of an individual receiving coverage by
showing only the last four digits of the SSN and replacing
the first five digits with asterisks (*) or Xs. Truncation isn't
allowed on forms filed with the IRS.
Statements must be furnished to recipients on paper by
mail, unless a recipient affirmatively consents to receive
the statement in an electronic format. If mailed, the
statement must be sent to the recipient’s last known
permanent address, or if no permanent address is known,
to the recipient’s temporary address.
Consent to furnish statement electronically. The
requirement to obtain affirmative consent to furnish a
statement electronically ensures that statements are sent
electronically only to individuals who are able to access
them. A recipient may provide his or her consent on paper
or electronically, such as by email. If consent is provided
on paper, the recipient must confirm the consent
electronically. An electronic statement may be furnished
by email or by informing the recipient how to access the
statement on a Marketplace’s website (for example, in the
recipient's Marketplace account).

If you select the standard deduction option you will never see that option. Your software is flawed and has probably caused thousands of returns to be delayed. Stay classy TurboTax
TT did correct this programming error 3/6/20 however this will not help all the people who filed prior to this date ... too little too late. I mentioned several times in December when the program first came out this was an issue ... too bad it took them 3 months to correct a fatal flaw.
Of course all the users must take a bit of the blame on themselves especially the ones who had the form in hand and knew they had to enter it ... we have been telling folks on this forum how to enter it since the forms were first put out in January ... so all a user had to do is post the question and they would have gotten an answer so they would not be in the mess they are in now.
Also I think that if the IRS can stop and reject a return for a missing form 5405 then they can program the system to reject a missing 1095-A ... sadly the IRS is understaffed and using old systems so until Congress increases the budget of the money making portion of the government system we will have to deal with what we have.
FYI ... someone else posted a complaint on the BBB and were contacted in short order from Intuit with a note saying their fees would be refunded ... so for anyone who paid a TT fee may wish to do the same.
The reason I still filed was knowing that there was no penalty or credit for Obamacare, so after several attempts to locate the input for it I just assumed that the change meant it wasn’t needed
That's what I thought, now I think my State taxes are wrong as well. 😣
The health insurance mandate was removed starting in 2019 but you still had to deal with the 1095-A ... page 1 of the 7 page notice the 1095-A form came with told you what you needed to do. You should have posted a question here or used the search function in the program to find the correct place to enter it.
FYI ... as of 3/6/2020 TT has corrected this flaw ... finally ... so users must now answer a direct question on this form.
