This year turbo tax didn’t ask about my healthcare insurance any idea why?

Same here, Turbotax did not ask for Health insurance info and I got screwed over!

You have to wait for your letter from the IRS. There are specific things you have to put on your cover sheet and include the copy of the letter they send you.

@mfknnichy483  Thanks for your response.  That's what I was thinking.  So why is TT compounding their error by telling people to do this?   So frustrating!

This may be true, but just as some have already stated the novice user is probably not going to think to search the topic.  People pay for a service and expect that they will be prompted through the entire process.

WAIT for your letter for the fax # to where your return is being handled ... there are several numbers and if you send it to the incorrect one it can delay things further.

This is apparent now.  But, TT should have prompted the question. Your average person is not going to think to search the tax topic.  When someone pays for a service, it is expected that all the information will be provided.

I'm another of many who thinks TurboTax should have asked if I received a 1095-A (yes) and then prompted me to complete Form 8962. I am retired and have a very low income so I qualify for PTC and I use the TurboTax free service. I've used it for 7 years and it's been great until filing for 2019. I'm so used to it being thorough that I didn't realize until I submitted that PTC was omitted. I called support and was told I didn't need to attach 1095-A, that IRS would ask for it if needed but I would have to upgrade and pay to include it. Form 8962 was not addressed. I was sure something was wrong but kept being told IRS would let me know if they needed anything else. That wasn't the point, of course IRS will let you know if they need something. I wanted to do it right the first time. I submitted online Feb 6 and today (Feb 27) received notice from IRS that they need my 1095-A and Form 8962. I didn't bother trying to amend online as I can't afford the upgrade. I completed the request manually and mailed it. In the past I've gotten a direct deposit refund within 2 weeks. This year it will be 6-8 weeks. Very disappointed.

From turbotax promotion:

Every detail reviewed

Get a comprehensive review of your online tax return before you file so you can be confident nothing gets missed.

Simply tell us about your year, including what you do for income, if you have kids, if you own or rent, and if you made any charitable donations. We’ll guide you through every step.

SO.......if every detail is reviewed, you'll guide me through EVERY step of the way.....so I can be CONFIDENT nothing gets missed...why did you fail to prepare my taxes without including 1095A?

Turbotax should be emailing the tens of thousands of users that already filed to let them know turbotax screwed up and people's taxes were prepared incorrectly, despite the guarantees....

I wouldn't know if I hadn't searched extensively online for answers. Who knows when I'll ever see my refund....summer maybe???  Fixing things will take more work than preparing it properly the first time. Thanks turbotax, your brand is ruined now

Same thing happened to me cant believe the 1095 wasn't even asked about. I recieved it like 2 weeks after I filed. Now i had to mail in the form with another document that hopefully i did right! Who told you it would only take 3 weeks? I was informed in the letter by the IRS that it takes 6-8 weeks to process 🤨

You can call this number  [phone number removed], extension 568 or fax it to this number [phone number removed]

From everything I'm reading, Turbo Tax is not taking ANY responsibility for their neglect of countless numbers of tax filers. I am a single mother with 3 children on a lower income. That tax refund is a lifeline to us. After finally being able to amend my return yesterday, Turbo Tax says they "need time to prepare the document" and that I'll receive an email notification when it's ready so I can mail it in myself. Then I have another 8 weeks AFTER that before I can expect my refund! I'm livid right now. Anyone who needs the Affordable Care Credit is already strapped financially and have no recourse against Turbo Tax. I genuinely will never use an Intuit product ever again and urge others to ban them as well.

You did not need to wait for the amendment process to add the form 8962 and you do not amend the return at all just to add the 1095-A info to the return to generate the 8962.

If you used the free version and you are forced to upgrade to Deluxe for that form then call TT support and complain and ask for a code to remove the fee.

In the same situation and this is just ridiculous. Already had to wait because of the PATH Act since we have the earned income credit and child tax credits, then waited until the 21 days were over and still no date in WMR tool. After all the waiting, called IRS and was advised a letter has been sent asking for the 1095a form and 8962 completed form that TurboTax DID NOT ask for this year. There were literally NO questions whatsoever about health insurance this year, so I figured it went back to the way it was in the past before they started requiring that information. Had no idea TurboTax was basically overlooking the many people that have coverage through the marketplace simply because it is no longer a requirement for everyone else to put this info in their taxes. Now we have to wait possibly 6-8 weeks before getting our refund (as if we haven’t waited enough). Definitely will consider using someone other than TurboTax in the future after having used them for all these years. TurboTax really put our family in a bind.

So just an update guys I got a letter on the 10th of February from the irs requesting the 1095a and 8962 I faxed it in on the 11th and hadn’t heard anything from the irs since. Currently my status says my tax return is being processed which is so draining! I called the number you guys posted and spoke to a lady after verifying my Identity and she told me my refund will be released on March 4th next Wednesday!!! I’m so happy and although I didn’t hear anything I must say they are working on our documents. Don’t go by the transcript my transcript still says the 570 code but the IRS rep told me I’ll get my refund next Wednesday. Call the irs number and extension that people are posting on this forum be nice and patient and get an update.. Hope this helps you.

The same thing is happening to me...I guess now I just have to wait to receive the letter from IRS with fax number, etc.  This could've been avoided if it would've automatically prompted us to upload the 1095 form.  I will NEVER use Turbo Tax again!
