There is an avalanche of reports about Software glitches and malfunctions for the current 2024 Download. Customers have profound software quality, functionality probs

It's disconcerting to have so many bug fixes DURING the time people are attempting to do their taxes. Why isn't this software tested more rigorously BEFORE you turn it loose. You KNOW the tax laws; you have, or are trying to obtain, a monopoly on the tax and other financial business so you ought to at least get it right with few updates needed on core functionality. Not sure why you need updates to core functionality anyway; a lot of this stuff doesn't change year to year.Got a programmer leaving out a comma, semi-colon, or bracket somewhere? Yeah, probably. Today is March 27 and I'm still getting "Update your software". I've gotten that message every year I've used any Turbotax software DURING the 1st quarter that taxes are being done.

I’ve been using Ttx for years but this year may be my last, just too many problems. (Purchased from Costco- no disk) Initial download just kept stopping over and over.  Then all of the inaccessible screens including many 1099’s.  Ended up just going

to the actual Fed form and filling out directly -if I’m forced to do why waste the $ for the program?  I’m also leery of the results, when changing a number the tax due would change by thousands!!

TurboTax calculations are guaranteed. If your situation meets the terms of the 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee, Intuit will reimburse the amount actually paid by you to the IRS or state in penalties and/or interest as levied against you in their first notice (i.e., if the notice is not paid, Intuit will not reimburse additional interest and penalties for not paying the first bill timely).

Claims can be filed online here. If you file a 2024 claim and the drop-down menu of years doesn't show 2024 yet, you can choose "2023" and the Accurate Guarantee team will consider your claim.

We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses.

Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab:

As a TurboTax user for, possibly, 35 years, it is incredible to find that there is no way to correct my error in indicating that one1099-B showed E and F check marks when those should have shown D. Neither deletion of the entire investment and redoing it nor a restart changes anything. Clearing the cache is recommended as a fix, but at this time I hope to find a different method lest I lose opportunity to revisit a cached site I failed to note elsewhere in some online research.

It needed a software update. I use a Mac and already had my anti-virus software and pop-ups disabled. It worked fine after the update and recognized my first payment.

Thanks, but the problem persisted after an update of TT. I had to start another return.

Anyone know if there is a process to get my money back from TTX ?

I am done with the maddening repeated efforts of starting over and trying all kinds of BS workarounds to get TTX to properly import and apply my Edward Jones 1099 data.  This is a very bad, very expensive joke

After 25 years as a TTX customer, I am done.

TurboTax has an unconditional 60-day satisfaction/moneyback guarantee for the desktop software, as long as it was purchased from TurboTax or one of its authorized retailers.   Here's a FAQ that has the online refund request form.

I'm a very long-time user. The downloaded return this year stinks as compared with previous years. I can't even delete a return that I started and want to erase, because I was all the sudden having $600 million in income and couldn't fix it.

There just is no way to put the situation nicely.

If you are using desktop software (is that what you mean by "downloaded return?"), there are a couple of ways to delete a *.tax2024 data file that is no longer needed.     Are you using Windows or Mac?   I can tell you 2 ways to delete the unneeded file in Windows.  I don't use a Mac, so someone else would have to tell you how to delete an unneeded *.tax2024 data file in that platform.

Or did you use Online TurboTax (via a web browser) by mistake instead of your installed desktop software?  We have occasionally seen that happen to a few users.  In Online TurboTax if you have paid or registered, you can't use the feature "Clear and Start Over."

The software doubled my salary,  I had to do an override to correct, which the error checker said it was an error.  Then on Schedule C, step by step the question is asked about the name of the business, then it says, leave blank if there is not a name.  I left blank, once again Turbo says that it is an error.  Having to mail by tax form.  I thought about including a cover letter to the IRS about all the problems that TurboTax has.  I to have been a long time user.

If you need to delete an unwanted, trial, or erroneous tax file ending in *.tax2024 (or other year), here's 2 methods for how to do it in Windows.  Be careful to choose the right file and not your good file!

Method 1:

Launch TurboTax desktop.

You will arrive at a home page that shows large rectangular icons of your tax data files you have used recently.   Those are shortcuts to the actual *.tax2024 data file.

On the unwanted file Right-click inside the rectangle to select it (but don't click on "Continue").   Once you select the rectangle it will have a wide blue border.

Then you can press Delete on your keyboard.

A popup should then appear that gives you 2 choices:

  • Delete from TurboTax only.
  • Delete from TurboTax and my computer.

The first choice only removes that icon shortcut but still leaves the *.tax2024 data file in your Documents/TurboTax folder (or wherever you saved it).  i.e., it's still there, but you don't see it in the TurboTax interface anymore.  The shortcut is gone.

The second choice (delete from TurboTax and computer) completely deletes the shortcut icon AND the actual file.

If you are completely deleting the file, then BE SURE you are deleting the right one, especially if they are similar in name.  I've seen people delete their good file before.  Warning:  I think that choice obliterates the file without sending it first to the Recycle Bin.

Method 2:

You can delete the unwanted, erroneous, or trial *.tax2024 data file in Windows File Explorer just like any file in Windows.  i.e., open the File Explorer and browse to Documents\TurboTax (or whether you stored the file), right-click on the specific data file, and then select Delete in the dropdown menu or left-click it and press Delete on the keyboard.

Be aware that this method only deletes the tax file but does not remove the shortcut icon from the main TurboTax screen. The program interface will still have a rectangular icon, but it would not longer launch anything.   You can remove that icon as I discussed in Method 1.

Again, if you are completely deleting the file, then BE SURE you are deleting the right one, especially if they are similar in name.
