From who? You owe the Turbo Tax fees or a tax due to the IRS or state? Was the tax due suppose to come out of your bank account? Maybe your bank info was wrong.
Or did the IRS change your return so now you owe?
I received a paper notice from the IRS saying that my federal tax payment for 2020 was "Mis applied" and that I should send it again. Meaning that I would be paying twice.
How did you pay it the first time? Did you mail a check? Maybe you used the wrong payment slip. Was it a 1040ES coupon? 1040ES are estimated prepayments for next year. So be sure to enter it next year to get credit for it.
Or did you pay the IRS directly online? You might have picked the wrong payment or for the wrong year.
Do you have proof it was paid? Like from your bank account or credit card? Did they say what it was applied to?
The payment was electronically deducted from my bank account through ACH.
The bank verified that it was paid.
IRS did not say what it was applied to, they only said "Mis applied"
Keep checking your bank account. Maybe they will send the wrong one back. Only thing you can do is call the IRS and ask them what it's about.
