Second state return in two state situation is autopopulating

I have to file two state returns this year. How can I prevent turbotax premier from populating the second state return with all the federal data

Depending on the state, that may be how the tax is calculated. The majority of the states use your full income to calculate your tax liability and the pro-rate the tax by the percent earned in the state.

Look for a line with a percentage earned in that state.

If you want to reply with the state, we can let you know.

To ensure accurate calculations, we strongly recommend preparing your nonresident state return before you prepare any resident or part-year state returns. Even so, TurboTax will populate both state returns with all relevant data from your federal return. As you work through the state interview, you can change or omit any information that is not needed for that state return.
