Medical expenses are often not deductible, as they need to be over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income and you need to be able to itemize your deductions for them to be beneficial. So, you can try deleting the Medical Wks in your program and if it doesn't affect your income tax, that may resolve your issue. You can follow these steps to delete a form or worksheet in TurboTax:

  1. Click on Tax Tools in the left menu bar
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Look under Other Helpful Links and choose Delete a form

Since I am unable to recreate this issue but would like to get to the bottom of this issue, can you send me a diagnostic copy of your return?   It is a copy of your return that has all of your personal information removed.   You can send one by following the steps below in TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign in to your online account and click on Pick up where you left off.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token number in a reply to this post.

Thank you!  @JanG77

SAYS MEDICAL EXPENSES NEEDS REVIEW AND I CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG

Hi Jan,

When I opened your return, the 'needs review' message was there.  But after clicking on Update and then clicking through all 11 of the medical expense categories, and then clicking Done on the page that said 'the standard deduction is the right choice for you', the 'needs review' message went away.     And your Standard Deduction is slightly higher than your itemized deductions.   I believe you are using the desktop version.  If so, you can view your Schedule A to verify this.

  1. Click on Forms (upper right corner)
  2. Click on Open Form
  3. Type Schedule A
  4. Select Schedule A: Itemized Deductions from the list
  5. Click on Open Form
