I have this issue too. Windows 11, on several different computers. Using 2024 Desktop Premier version of TurboTax. I get the ReCaptcha error, when trying to pull form 1099 from Morgan Stanley. This has worked flawlessly for the previous two years, this year it is failing due to the ReCaptcha error. I don't have a VPN. I have whitelisted the desktop TurboTax app, Intuit website, Morgan Stanley website.
Error is encountered on multiple financial sites, multiple computers.
Communication from app to financial institution ReCAPTCHA Enterprise interacts with the customer backend and webpages to trigger a sequence of JavaScript, HTML, and token authentication events, something in this code flow is not working on the TurboTax side of the fence. TurboTax developers need to figure this out and get it patched in a new software build.
Error:
"Error for site owner: Invalid site key"
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
I'm getting this same error when importing from Ally Bank. Trying some different things now, but I'm not doing anything different from prior years when I didn't have this issue.
I am getting the same error importing from Vanguard.
I disabled my Norton VPN and the import worked.
Same reCAPTCHA issue trying to import from Morgan Stanley and from Merrill Edge accounts.
For Vanguard accounts, here’s what we recommend: @MrAndy2025
First, the Primary owner of the brokerage account must be logged on to import the information. Then, make sure you have selected the Vanguard brokerage account and not the mutual funds account. Customers have found that when they click on the Vanguard icon in the Select financial institutions section, it didn't give a choice of brokerage or mutual funds. However when they typed in Vanguard instead of clicking on the icon, they did get a choice and were able to select brokerage.
To import from your Vanguard account, please follow the steps below:
You have to import from Apex clearing, NOT Ally Financial. @velveteenjacket
If you are using TurboTax Online, try importing using a different browser.

i have the same issue
i have the same issue were you able to get it resolved
I have the same issue trying to import from Ameriprise Financial.
I echo all information the first person that submitted the issue. I am using Windows 11 2024 Desktop Premier version of TurboTax. I get the ReCaptcha error when downloading any investment forms not just 1099 from Robinhood, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, Janus Henderson, Fidelity and Invesco. I have been using Desktop Premier version for more than 5 years and I have never had this issue.
I am having the same issue, Captcha error message will not allow import from Merrill Edge or from Wells Fargo. I spent over an hour on telephone with Turbotax this morning and they were not aware of this problem. They could not solve it for me.
I have the desktop TT Deluxe, and I see no step 2.
I am getting the same error trying to import from Ameriprise Financial. However, I was able to import tax documents back in January from Ameriprise. What has happened to TurboTax?
I have the same issue, and love that TurboTax just has us complain to each other about it with no real way to get any level of support to resolve it.
Same issue with Blackrock mutual funds. Today it did successfully pull a 1099 from Fidelity. Desktop TT premier purchased from costco.
To fix the issue if you are on a Windows,
UPDATE WINDOWS
go to bottom left side of computer screen on Windows where it says type here to search
type in UPDATE
next a screen will come up,
click check for updates system settings,
then under the grey box CHECK FOR UPDATES,
if you SEE FEATURE UPDATES download and install??
download and install all of them, especially the Feature updates
now sometimes it
takes a while to download
it will go from 0 to 100% 2 times,
make sure to close out all
windows but this one
and when it says PENDING RESTART on THIS page
you click that button.
After this there will be no more issues.
If on a MAC you will also need to update your Mac,
From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose System Settings. In the window that opens, click General in the sidebar, then click Software Update on the right. (In earlier versions of macOS, choose Apple menu > System Preferences instead, then click Software Update.)
