I'm a retired Public Safety Officer, when working on my 1099-R I enter and amount of $2985.56PSO from box 5 for insurance paid.  After finishing my return and reviewing the program gives me an error in the 1099-R summary line 26d, it shows an amount of $8958 highlighted in blue and I am unable to correct it.

The only way to correct 26d is to uncheck the box on my 1099-R to show that I'm not a Public Safety Officer which also increases my liability on taxes owed.

I recommend deleting your input for this 1099-R form and then entering it again. This might resolve the error and allow you to proceed.

To delete your input in the 1099-R section, follow the steps in this link to get to the 1099-R input section.

Once there, select Update to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).

    • This will take you to the screen with all of your 1099-R entries.
    • Select Delete to remove the applicable 1099-R .
    • Select Add Another 1099-R to enter the 1099-R again.
