To clarify, did you itemize your deductions in 2023? f you took the Standard Deduction in 2023, the "Taxable Amount (if Different)" on that worksheet should be $0. Even if the "Refund Amount Received" is $400, the taxable portion is zero because you never deducted the state taxes in the first place. Now do the following.
Yes, I took the standard deduction in 2023 but am still getting the error in my state taxes in the Final Review. In the state worksheet I have:
State/Local Code: NY
Refund Tax Year: 2023
Refund Amount Received: $400
Taxable Amount (if different): $0
Total Payments and Withholding: $2405
The only field I can edit in the NY worksheet is the Total Payments and Withholding. I went back to the Federal > Income > Refunds from state and local tax returns section and tried different amounts but it still doesn't work. How can I fix this? Thanks for your continued assistance!
Solved. I had to add my 2023 and 2024 amounts together since they were both on the NYS worksheet. I called support and they gave me the answer right away after seeing my worksheet, which you weren't able to see. Thanks for all your efforts.
