Resident Alien leaving USA mid-year Tax Residency Status

Trying to understand my residency in the following scenario:

I was a resident alien for tax purposes in 2023. I plan on leaving the US in March 2024.

Hence, I will meet the substantial presence test for the tax year of 2024 and hence can be considered a resident alien for 2024.

When I file my 2024 tax return next year, what will be my residency?

Do I have to file as a resident or a dual status tax return (being resident till the day I leave the US and non-resident post that)? Or is there a choice I can make between filing as a resident vs a dual status tax return?

Resident Alien leaving USA mid-year Tax Residency Status

According to IRS regulations, you must file 1040 NR, if you are a dual-status taxpayer who gives up residence in the United States during the year and who is not a U.S. resident on the last day of the tax year. You would file a US return 1040 return for the time you resided in the US and report the 1040 NR during the time you were out of the country.

Turbo Tax does not file 1040 NR returns, but our affiliate at Sprint Tax does. Select this link for more information.
