My wife died shortly after I filed my return but prior to the IRS issuing my refund. my return is rejected -- her SS# is showing as deceased. what do I do?

First @grandpaedwards , I am deeply sorry for your loss. The second question after you enter your wifes information is a checkbox for either legally blind, or passed away before filing this return. Then it asks the date of your loss. Filling out this section correctly should alleviate the problem.
