Glad I wasn't the only one with this error. I tried e-filing yesterday twice without any errors to fix. I will try again and possibly wait it out til we get word.
I think I may have an idea of the reason behind the X0000-005 rejection code - a QBI deduction worksheet is being generated when a taxpayer has Section 199A dividends in the 1099-DIV section. The QBI deduction worksheet has a section for the "Business Name" and since this "business income" is coming from Section 199A dividends, TurboTax is using "N/A" as the business name. Slashes such as that in "N/A" is illegal in XML formatting and that may be causing the schema validation failure with the IRS server. Not 100% positive of this but it may be worth looking into changing how TurboTax goes about naming the "business" from Section 199A dividend deduction on the QBI deduction worksheet
I'm on the same boat. TurboTax is trying to inject the QBI item and coming with an n/a for the business nae.
Just for everybody's visibility, there's another thread tracking the same problem:
I resubmitted over an hour ago and the file finally says "PENDING" which it did not say yesterday when I got the "rejected" message. I am hoping IRS finally fixed whatever it was on their end.
I would usually get the rejection e-mail almost exactly 30m after initial submission. Keep us posted!
I re-submitted mine for the forth time (a day later) and it went through this time. I got an e-mail saying the IRS accepted it. Also TurboTax's support team got back to me on Twitter and said they were aware of the problem and working on it
I got the error and rejected 3 times and last time I sent I got "pending" status. Now almost 4 days, my status still pending. Does it happen to you guys? How long does "pending" status usually last?
This error has been recently resolved. Please try again.
I am happy to report I tried again to e-file on Tuesday, and finally on Thursday I received the message that my return had been accepted.
It seemed like a very long time of not hearing anything but I'm glad the mess is over.
Mark
