The other thing to check is something that many people mess up.

 

Doublecheck what you have in box 2 of your "software" W-2 in the tax program.   Far too many people misplace the decimal point for cents....or hit a comma instead of the decimal point, and that results in a huge withholding $$ number, and then a refund that is not right.

 

Check the State withholding in box 17 of the W-2 again at the same time.

And if you have any 1099-R forms entered, check the Federal and state withholding numbers you entered on those software forms for misplaced decimal points.
