My employer sent me two W2 forms but both are different in boxes1-6 only, which one do I use?

Please clarify some information about the W-2s.

• Do they both have the same tax ID number in the box (b)? Top left corner.
• Is one a corrected W-2?  It would look very different.
• Did you have an extended leave that you received the second W-2 for?

They both have the same tax id number in box b. No to question three about leave. To question two, the two forms are identical except for the numbers in boxes 1-6, control number, employer use only box number, the batch numbers, box 14.

If one is not labeled as a W2-C, then you would need to contact your employer to see which one is the correct one.  You do not want to enter both of them as you would be duplicating your income if you did.
