One thing to point out here. You *MUST* have a "certificate of live birth" in case the IRS audit's you on this. Without that, the IRS will deny your claim of dependent and you'll end up paying money back to the IRS. Take note that your chances of being audited on this (by mail, not in person) in the next 24-36 months after you file is about 50/50. So that's why you want to keep the birth certificate for at least that long.
