I see from other posts that TT does not carry losses forward for you, and I'm sure I've completely messed those up in prior years. But they also don't tell you where to find that info from previous returns. Which forms/lines contain this information?

Look at the previous year Schedule D
Part III line 16 shows your total loss
Line 22 shows the loss you claimed
The difference would be the carry-over
TurboTax also would have a Capital Loss Carryforward Worksheet included with your tax documents for that previous year reporting the carryforward amount.
This worksheet is not included in your tax filing, so you would need to print (save to PDF) all worksheets to get see this.

Sorry, I didn't give enough information. This is a Schedule C (Sole Prop) net operating loss. Looks like D is for Cap Gains/Losses and C-Corps.
Also I have a schedule E, which did show a profit, and there are forms that balance those two out, just not sure which form/lines to use. Ie 8995, Schedule E Part II line 32, Schedule 1, part II line 22, 199A "Worksheet by Activity, Schedule C line 29...I don't know which of these to chose from (also for the QBI), or if there are other forms I need to look at?

However, looking at my Schedule D,
indeed I see Part III line 16, but there is not a "line 22" where the claimed loss should be listed. The last line on that form is line #21. There indeed is a yes/no question only at item # 22.
Perhaps you meant the sum of lines #16 + #21??
That seems to match the numbers that show on my Federal Loss and Expense carryover worksheet for short and long term capitol losses, subtracting $3000 from the total
