Incorrect 1099r

My 1099r was incorrect my question is if I don't get the correct 1099r by tax day do I go ahead and file without it thanks

If you do not receive the corrected 1099-R by the tax day,  you could do either of the following:

• File it with the incorrect form, but you would have to do an amended return after you receive the correct one.  You would have to wait until the return is processed by both the IRS and your state before being able to file the amendment.  You would need to file a Form 1040X.  

• File an extension which gives you until October 15, 2024, to file your taxes instead of the tax deadline of April 15, 2024. You must file an extension by April 15, 2024, to get extra time to file your taxes without a penalty.   You would have to make a payment before April 15, 2024, if you have a balance.  If you do an extension, when you get the corrected form, you will just go back to your return, correct the form, and file your return.

you will have to explain to IRS what you did to recover the correct document from the payer.
