Re: Income for for social security work credit eigibility

Hi @xmasbaby0 , my son doesn’t claimed me as a dependent and he doesn’t have any kids.

I think I’m not so sure if my situation would be an independent contractor since my “client” is only my son and he doesn’t issue me w2 or 1099.

Re: Income for for social security work credit eigibility

If your son paid you at least $2600 you may be a household employee and he needs to issue you a W-2.  Or....if you are an "independent contractor" then you do not have to have a 1099 in order to report self-employment income.  You just enter the cash income you received--he does not have to give you a 1099.
