Desktop application guidance and HELP is woefully inadequate in this area. The Help for the 5-digit signature PIN doesn't mention the similar, but distinct, 6-digit IRS PIN that must be input into the program in a completely different spot, in order for a return to submit successfully. Some verbiage in the Help file and advice to be sure that both individuals (in a joint filing) have input their IRS PIN(s) if set on their IRS account is mandatory.
