import multiple "sub" accounts at Morgan Stanley E-Trade

I have one account at etrade, as in, I log in using my one set of credentials once, and within my account I have multiple separate accounts; a taxable investments account, a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA. As well, there are two taxable accounts that I closed early in 2025. I also did a partial trad IRA to Roth IRA conversion.

When I import my data from Etrade, I only get data from one account, the current taxable investment account. I do not get the data for the previously closed taxable accounts, even though 1099's have been issued for them (as well as a 1099-R for the IRA conversion).

I see no mechanism for specifying the account number when importing; it's just enter credentials, and TT imports just one set of documents.

How do I import all of my relevant documents?

You can not import information from closed accounts.

Okay, good to know, but what about the other account?

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

This is Desktop Turbotax. I believe I specified that in the list of queries asked before the post goes up. Maybe it doesn't appear properly. Regardless, this has nothing to do with browsers.

You also mention brokerage delays. As I stated, I have received all the 1099's, including the 1099-R for the trad to roth conversion.

Regarding availability, I suppose this may be involved, though it seems unlikely.

Regarding connection blocks, if either VPN's or AV were involved, the import would fail to run at all. I'm not running a VPN, and my AV would alert if it blocked a network connection.

I appreciate your having looked into this.

I'll try importing again after the March 6th deadline my brokerage stated for all tax forms to be released, though it seems weird that they'd release the 1099's for download but hold back import of one of the accounts.
