If my wife is a house wife and does not have any income, do I still need to file my tax return jointly with her? Can I just file my return and add her as dependent ?

A spouse can never be a dependent...you always file a joint return even if one spouse has no income.

your choices are a joint return or married filing separately.   since she has no income, a joint  return will result in the lowest taxes.
