I had two W-2 incomes in 2024,one from the USA and one from Poland. I can't submit my documents due to an error with the Employer Identification Number. What should I do?

I had two sources of income in 2024: one from the USA and one from Poland. The income from Poland was reported on a different form, which I entered as another W-2. However, I keep getting an error when entering the Polish Employer Identification Number, as one digit doesn’t fit. What should I do to fix this and submit my documents correctly?

Did the Polish employer pay social security and Medicare payments? You cannot make the entry as a W2 if they did not report the information on a W2 to the IRS and SSA.

Taxes were not paid to American institutions; they were only paid in Poland. Since I cannot get a refund for that tax, I did not file the form to claim the tax credit.

@diana-ternovaja2015 You can enter the income as Miscellaneous Income:

Under Less Common Income select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C

  1. On the Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income page, select Start to the right of Other reportable income
  2. On the Any Other Taxable Income? screen, select Yes
  3. On the Other Taxable Income screen enter the description "Income from Poland" then the amount.  Select Continue
  4. On the Other Miscellaneous Income Summary screen, select Done

You may be able to get a foreign tax credit for the taxes you paid to Poland- look in the Deductions & Credits section.
