Yes. If you were married as of 12/31/22, your filing options are Married filing jointly or Married filing separately. And it is almost always better to file jointly. Is your wife a US citizen? See this discussion if she is not.
Thanks. As I posted before Joint reurn technically requires her signature or a pin number for electronic return. Since I have no communication with her she does not know that I file joint return by creatinga pin on her behalf. Will not this be unacceptable to IRS?
You can't file a return for someone without their permission. While the IRS may not know, she could turn you in for identity theft. It may be worth giving her a call or better yet, a text or email, where you can have proof that she is willing to let you file joint.
