It depends, if you received a 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, or 1099-K reporting income then you are usually considered self-employed.
See Am I considered self-employed? for more specific information.
Hello, i did not received this and thus myattempt to remove the old application to start over. This is how Turbo Tax said to get to the basica application.
Did you enter a 1099-Misc or 1099-NEC that defaulted to generating self-employment income on a Schedule C? I wonder whether that was the source of the 'self-employee' message that you refer to. If so, you were correct to delete and start over but, I suspect, that you re-entered the form and ended up in the same place.
Do you expect to report self-employment income on a Schedule C?
If so, first establish the self-employment activity at Federal / Income & Expenses / Your income and expenses / Self-employment income and expenses. Then add the 1099 income as income to the self-employment activity.
Are you not expecting to report self-employment income on a Schedule C? If not, are you reporting a 1099 form? Does it report something other than self-employment income?
