I have entered nearly $5000 for double-pane exterior door and window replacements, but TurboTax says

"Based on what you've entered so far, we can't get you the home energy credit for 2018..."

Why would I not be eligible?

it states that the tax credit expired as the end of 2017 ; hence no credit in 2018 for residential.

Seems like TT could/should have displayed that explanation when the credit was rejected.

So if it expired, why did Turbo Tax ask for the info for my 2018 return? That makes no sense to me. I have replaced old appliances with new energy efficient ones for furnace, AC, duct work, water heater.
