So....what's your excuse now? Seriously! Why did you mark this thread resolved?
Any update? We filed ours on 2/12 before they said there was an issue. Got accepted by the IRS on 2/12. Just received a notice from IRS refund was rejected due to issue with our energy credit. They said they will be mailing a letter letting us know what to do but the letter won’t be here for 30-45 days then we’ll need to refile. So beyond frustrating!
I have found one simple solution to the 5695 bug but it may not work in all cases. Yesterday I updated TurboTax but when I tried to file my tax hit the loop that kept failing to fix the 5695 bug. Frustrated, I went back and looked carefully at the Forms version, then went back to see what energy benefits I had. I found nothing since I received rebate in 2023 for a heat pump installed in 2022. I looked back at Form 5695 and saw that all but two of the YES/NO options were marked NO. I read the two YES cases, realized they did not apply to me, and marked them NO, so everything on the form was NO. When I went back look at the Forms, I saw the RED ERROR mark by Form 5695 had vanished. I went back to TurboTax and this time I was able to work all the way through electronic filing for both federal and state. I was amazed. Both federal and state filings have now been approved by the IRS and state tax office. This worked for me, and it may work for you. There may be multiple problems, so it may not work for everyone.
