Same exact crap for me! So frustrating. I sent an email to Intuit president Friday evening just to register my dismay but I'm relieved to see they are already on it. But can they fix it? So many of us in the same boat. They'll eventually fix it. The fact that OTHER tax prep software previously fixed it Ok shows that it can be fixed. A day's delay isn't going to kill me - we all must just hang in there. It's disgusting, though.

This morning I updated Turbotax again and clicked on "transmit return" at around 9 AM. I did not get an error this time! At 9:10 AM I got an email from Turbotax saying my Federal return had been accepted by the taxing authority! I am cautiously optimistic that things actually worked.

SUCCESS 03/12 - program updated (desktop Win) version 021 followed by 000 0521 and was able to successfully transmit my return with all the FORM 1116 data. Thanks!

HI, great that it worked for you! Means there is hope. Alas, I didn't get the update message re Form 1116 Schedule B ready to e-file, and so I still can't e-file. Wrote to Intuit President's office again tonight about this - since at least one person has been updated and able to file, it means there is some communication glitch re me and others, but perhaps they'll get on it, if only to make me leave them alone! Sad.

• I updated my Desktop version yesterday and was able to successfully e-file  with  Form 1116 Schedule B including the carryover from previous tax years.

Good afternoon on Sunday March 13 - I see that some people have been able to e-file, having received the final engine update re Form 1116 Schedule B. But I have not received the engine update, and when I click to transmit the return, I am still getting the message to attach the Sched B when in fact it is attached. Help, please! I have Deluxe CD version for my desktop PC. Can you or another tax specialist help me? If the functionality isn't yet available for desktop PC, can you please update me so i don't feel I'm missing out on something currently effective? Thank you.

Please ensure you are on the release previously mentioned Help > About TurboTax.

I had similar, please go into FORMS mode and DELETE the existing Form 1116 (I had multiple). Then return to the interview process and go to Deductions & Credits > Foreign Taxes and walk thru the process again.

This will re-create the Forms 1116 and you should be able to transmit this successfully.

Note: I had read elsewhere since my foreign taxes paid are all from Mutual Funds, I should select RIC (Regulated Investment Corp) vs entering Various when specifying the country. Another forum post talked about issues with transmitting returns with VARIOUS listed a country.

At the top of Schedule B for Form 1116, the time period at the top (i.e. for calendar year 2021) is not pre-filled in by TurboTax - and there is NOT a way to manually enter that in Forms View.  Any suggestions?

Good newsI think. Today I received and installed the engine update for the Sched B and was able to e-file at last. So far, IRS accepted return and NY always takes a few more hours. There was a minor glitch because Form 1116 required a box to be checked (about the type of foreign income) which for some reason hadn't been done earlier in the return prep process. Returns bounced back rejected but with the advice of how to correct the problem - once that was done, I filed and, so far so good. I've been using TT since 2005 and for me this was an unprecedented problem. Glad it seems to have been solved and I hope everyone is now able to e-file successfully. (Of course, it ain't over until it's over, and until I actually see the return being processed at IRS.)

It doesn't matter if the time period for Form 1116 is not filled in. The IRS assumes that this is for the 2021 tax year based on a calendar year filing, which is true for all individual 1040 tax returns.

UPDATE

On Saturday 03/12, TT accepted my return for transmission.  On Mon 03/14, I got back a reject message from TT indicating another product release was forthcoming to fix. Please note I do have Foreign Tax carry overs from past years so you may not have encountered this.Screenshot

Replying to myself, just to finish up my comments on this thread. I got the 1116 Sched B update this morning, and e-filed at last. IRS accepted my federal return this afternoon, and NY just notified me of their acceptance of state return. So, all's well that ends well. (I was using TT Deluxe for PC desktop which probably was last on line for the engine update.) I hope everyone else has been able to file now so we can put this in the 'all done' folder.
