For self-employed income, what do I put for "started work" date if the date I started working was in a different year than when I first got paid for that work?

I could say I started when I first got paid. Or I could say I started in an earlier year, which would maybe make the IRS wonder why I didn't report income that year.

Just enter 01/01/2020 as the "started work" date (or the date you first got paid). Your answer to this question will not raise any concerns at the IRS.
