Software directed me to provide a name for a Canadian retirement account when I never selected that option.
Not generating form 1040-SR

At the Canadian Pension question, click the trash can icon and delete the form. Don't click Continue, because it'll create a new Canada RRP Worksheet. Click the trash can and go right back to Federal Review. Let us know in the comments if that doesn't resolve the issue.
When entering Social Security income, the page to enter a name for a Canadian pension came up, could not get past it. Clicked back, found an entry had been started for a Canadian pension, clicked on the trash can, it went away, and clicked Done. This happened again when I went back through Social Security income. I exited Turbotax and deleted the tax file. Upon re-enter, I elected to update Turbotax (as I always do), started tax return from the beginning, and the issue with a Canadian pension did not re-appear.
Next issue. Info Wks shows as checked to generate form 1040-SR and the correct date of birth. But the form was not created, only Form 1040.
TurboTax does automatically generate Form 1040-SR for taxpayers aged 65 or older by using the birthdate entered in the "Personal Info" section. While the screen displays a standard 1040 form while you are working on the return, the 1040-SR is generated when printing, saving, or e-filing. I just tested this by saving a test return to a PDF and it did create a 1040-SR,
I'm going to delete the 2025 and wait until after March 1st to start again. Maybe the kinks will be worked out by then.
Didnt work (still!)
Please clarify. What exactly didn't work?
If you experienced the issue with being prompted for Canadian Pension income information:
It's possible you are seeing this prompt because the "Canadian Pension" line was clicked inadvertently under the Retirement Plans and Social Security subheading in Wages & Income.
When you are in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section, one of the options to choose is Canadian Registered Pension Income. Go back to Wages & Income, select Retirement Plans and Social Security, and check what entries were made. Delete any entries made in the Canadian Pension section.
If you have inadvertently started a Canadian Pension form, you can delete it. Here are the directions for Online and Desktop versions:
If you are using:
I did NOT click on it, and to make sure wasted another hour with: uninstalling deleting all existing files and reinstalling TO MAKE SURE
Have wasted hour coming up on days and am *done*. This *IS* a bug as the 2 tech folks I spoke with admitted to.
No mas!!!
