Once you enter your 1099-MISC, it is important that you answer the questions that follow the entry screen for the 1099-MISC. If answered correctly, this income will flow to the correct place - whether that is Other Income, Schedule C (self-employment income) or a Schedule E (rental/royalty income). If you do not answer these questions following the entry, then TurboTax will give you an error message.
There are different instructions based on what your 1099-MISC was for. Please comment back so we can assist you further in completing your return.
I have completed everything and get this error. I click on the box, and no matter what i put in, it deletes it when i hit continue and move on. it gives me the error again. IWhen i click back in, the information typed is gone. Even if this info is incorrect, it should still be there. I have enter the only piece of information on my entire 1099 - misc document. It won't accept numbers or letters, ive tried many times. It seems your software is forcing me to purchase the plan just to get someone to look at the bug.
Are you receiving a message under Federal Review or somewhere else? What boxes have entries on your IRS Form 1099-Misc? Are you trying to report self-employment income or not? Please clarify.
The software may be trying to determine where the income is to be reported. @lenah's advice above sounds pertinent to your question.
