E-filing for trust

I e-filed 3 trust return3, but but all were rejected by the IRS. I scanned and upload Form 8453-PE. TT says this form is attached.

After the return was rejected, I reviewed my printed copy of the returns. Form 8453 was not included with the return as filed.

I then review the return I printed for my records that included al the calculations. Form 8453 is included.

Earlier this week, I filed a S-corp and C-corp electronically and Form 8453 was included and both were accepted by the IRS.

I am a CPA and pro-adviser. I have used TT for over 20 years and this is the first time this has happened.

Please advice

That is indeed strange. The only thing I can suggest at this point is to contact Support.

I presume you signed and dated the form before you uploaded the file to the program and did you intend to type "8453-FE"? Form 8453-PE is the transmittal form for a 1065.

Also, the transmittal form would not be included in your printed return as it is stored as a separate file on your computer (or other media).

Thank you for your quick response.

8453 was signed for all 3 trust returns and attached according to TT, all were rejected.

I imported information from the 2020 returns. I have e-filed these returns using TT since 2014 and never had a problem. I have not made any changes to the name or EIN.

The reason for the rejection states that

“ Description of error:

Filer’s EIN and Name Control in the return header must match data in the e-file database.

Resolution:

The name control and EIN in the e-file return must match the IRS records.”

I doubled checked and all information is the same as 2020.

Earlier this week I e-filed a c-corp and s-corp return. The IRS accepted both!

I am a retired CPA and have used TT for over 20 years!

Any ideas?

E-filing for trust

I finally was able to talk with a live person, who was awesome.

I changed to view rather than step by step. On the Information Worksheet, the very first line, the special name control must be the same as the first 4 letters of the name of the trust.

I made the changes. The IRS accepted one of the returns but rejected the other 2.

I will try one more time and then will file by mail!

Thank you so much for the phone number!

E-filing for trust

Thank you! Going to the worksheet form for the 1041 for a Fiduciary Trust allowed me to enter the first 4 letters of the trust name as on the IRS original Trust information sheet. Hooray! This worked!! For good measure, I also changed the name of the Turbo Tax file to match the exact trust name and changed the trust name in the 1041 form to match exactly. My guess is it is just the worksheet that fixed it though.

I love that Turbotax guides me to fix the error (though I wish it was less cryptic) and that I can re-submit by eFile!
