It's worth it if you have dozens or even hundreds of transactions.

Well, I think it's official. Just received an email from TT with the subject "The future of tax filing is Online." The email includes discount links for using online vs. desktop. How sad. I've tried H&R in the past and always had issues importing from my broker so stayed with TT. May have to reevaluate that decision.

Well, yeah, but how long do you suppose it will take H&R Block to follow suit? They may even transition to 100% online before Intuit.

I would hope they're going to give discounts and I mean HEFTY ones. There are folks using desktop versions of TurboTax instead of online for the sole reason that they can e-file up to 5 returns AND prepare unlimited returns for paper filing. Intuit needs to accommodate those customers.
Pricing I got in the email is $31 (down from $79) for online deluxe and $59 (down from $139) for premium. Only 1 federal return with e-file. State return is an extra $25 or $ 24 respectively.

OK, thanks for the post. That pricing sure isn't great since the desktop version of Premier is ~$82 on Amazon and around $100 from Intuit.
For those who need to prepare 4 or 5 returns (and e-file) that's $82-$105 for desktop versus $236-$295 for online. Not good for those needing to file multiple returns.
I just tried to open TurboTax that I purchased and filed my tax return from last year. After downloading all the updates, it required me to sign into my Intuit account, which I did. Now it wants me to enter my 16-digit activation code???? I purchased this software and have already used it. This was all done initially through their online verification process at the beginning of the year? Where am I supposed to get a verification code? This company has gone to hell!
I just found out that my purchase of Turbo Tax 2025 is $50 thrown away. I will not use Win 11, and I will no longer be a Turbo Tax customer.
I purchased H&R Block and I am forever gone from Turbo Tax.
How much did MS pay you to goose usage of Win 11? It won't be worth it in the end.
Do like me and vote with your feet to H&R Block software.
Intuit is unethical in that they lobby Congress to shut down the free government site so they can force us to use their product. Enough is enough.
I am no longer a customer of theirs after many years. I hope MS paid them handsomely to goose the Win 11 adoption.

Yes, you need to enter that code to activate the software. You should have received that code when you purchased the software.

I highly doubt MSFT paid Intuit anything for Windows 11 support. If that were the case, then Intuit wouldn't support any Mac OS for TurboTax.
I may just take my taxes and have it done for me after decades of using Turbotax? What do you think of H&R? I see it at Walmart for download at $29.00. Since I am waaay past 65 I can get an agency in oen to do mine for free. Never used them before, but know others that have. But sometimes I think it might be easier to spend $29.00 and take my time instead of for free and being rushed through everything in an hour by a stranger??
Installed Turbo Tax 2025 on my 2009 Acer Laptop that had the Windows 10 upgraded to Windows 11 by using the Windows 11 install hack setupprep.exe /product server. No issues except trying to get my wife's Netfile Assessment #. Note: she always puts in the wrong password for CRA My Account, then has to deal with CRA - apparently, 2 weeks to get an answer. Secondary note: Line 15000 amount on the .pdf didn't jibe with what they had on record. Seems, CRA received an other input that arrived after I filed changing the Line 15000. (We never received whatever additional info that the CRA received, OR wife never let me know about receiving so I could change our Tax copy.) In future, wife needs to get the password right that I can see her Netfile Assessment as to whether anything got changed.
