Many people are confused by the terms Social Security and SSI---they are not the same. Do you get Social Security benefits or do you get SSI?

If you get Social Security then each year you receive a SSA1099 from Social Security in late January/early February showing your Social Security and the amount you paid for Medicare.

If you receive SSI--you do not receive any sort of document to use on a tax return and do not file a tax return that reports the SSI. Here is where to register for the stimulus check.

How does this work for a child who recieves ssi? I am the mother but my child gets ssi. Also his father claims him on his taxes? I am so confused on how this works please help. Also his father claimed all 3 of our kids but only recieved payment for two is that because one of our kids is on ssi?
Children do not receive stimulus checks, SSI or not. The person who claimed the child as a dependent may get $500 for each child under the age of17.
