Deleted Entries Are Not Deleting

I put a figure in additional miscellaneous income in error.  I have gone back and deleted the entry.  There is nothing showing to edit or delete.  But, on the page showing all income the entry is still there in blue.  I have tried restarting the program but that amount is just not going away.  How to i get rid of it.

Got it!  I searched "Other Reportable Income" Jump to.  Said No.  The entry disappeared.

I don't know what miscellaneous income you entered, but if it's on a form like a 1099, you can delete the form. ‌Make sure not to delete a form that the program calculated for you.  

 

How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?

If you still have the same issue, you can message us again and give us more details as to what entry you need to delete.

Miscellaneous Income>Other Reportable Income: I entered a number that was not reported on a form.  I deleted the entry.  It is not in this area any longer. I go back to Explore areas I want to work on, bottom entry, Misc Income 1099a 1099c the number I entered is still there in blue.  How do I get rid of it if deleting it doesn't work?

Can you confirm your deleting the entire form or just deleting the amount you entered?  You will need to delete the form.  Follow these steps to delete:

 

To delete a 1099-MISC:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the 1099-MISC section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1099-MISC.
    • TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1099-misc and select the Jump to link.
  3. Select Delete next to the 1099-MISC you want to change or delete.
  4. If you’re deleting a 1099-MISC, answer Yes when you’re asked to confirm the deletion.

There is no 1099 Misc at all

It was entered under other reportable income, just a written entry.  There is no form

If you are using TurboTax Online and entered an item in Miscellaneous Income you wish to delete, enter that section again and click Edit next to the item you need to change; then you can delete the entry.

 

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, and you see blue numbers on the 2024 Income Summary Screen next to the category of income where you made the entry, then click the Update or Revisit button next to that category. This will open up the list of items in that category.

 

Click Update or Revisit next to the item you need to fix.

 

When you see the item you wish to delete, click the blue Edit button. Delete all of the entries for that item.

 

You can also click on the blue numbers on the Income Summary Screen and another screen will pop up listing the items and numbers that make up that total so you can confirm whether the item has been deleted.

 

I see in the meantime that you just updated your response to indicate the issue is resolved.

I am having similar problem.  I entered an amount in "other income not reported on a w-2" and "other miscellaneous income". I am now trying to delete both since the amount was incorrect.  I can delete the "other miscellaneous income" but not the "other income not reported on a w-2". I have gone through the process several times to say No, I have not received other income.  There is never an option to delete or a trash can symbol.  I exited Turbotax and logged in again and went through the process and the incorrect amount is still showing.  There is no form associated with it for me to delete as far as I know

Please go to 

  • Federal 
  • Wages & Income 
  • (if using Online, find these on the left side-bar)
  • Less Common Income   (open list)
  • Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C   START or UPDATE
  • Select "Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099    START or UPDATE

 

The entry you want to delete should be listed there
