I have a question about our state tax filing for 2024. I worked in Massachusetts for a few months, then I changed my job and find another job in Connecticut, but I have never relocate to Connecticut since the position is hybrid. and I only need to go to office 1~2 time per month. I alway lived in masseachuetts for the whole year in 2024. I will do the federal tax with married filing jointly, the same for MA state tax.
But I still need to file the state tax for CT. My question is about the state tax for CT. whether I should file it jointly with my wife? if I choose married filing separately in turbotax online, then I did not see 'continue' button to file for the CT state tax. If I choose file the CT state tax jointly, it seems I can continue to do the CT state tax. But the problem is that my wife did not get any income from CT and she worked in MA for the whole year. How to handle this issue?

0If you file the Connecticut return separate, you have to create a "mock" federal return. See How do I prepare a joint federal return and separate state?
Since I will do e-file the federal and MA with `Married filing jointly`. But for the CT state tax, i think only me is required to file a Connecticut income tax return? Does it need to pay the turbotax twice? Thanks
It depends- if you purchase the desktop version, as recommended- you would be able to add the additional separate return. You would have to pay for the Connecticut download, but since you cannot e-file the Connecticut return, you would be able to print and mail the return. @joe_Jiang
