Corrected W=2

I mailed my 2025 tax return and per certified mail, the IRS received it on February 26, 2026.  On March 3, 2026,  I received a corrected W-2.  I was advised to wait to receive my refund and then file an amended return.  Is this advice correct?  I am surprised that I have not received my refund yet (as of March 21, 2026).  Please advise.

Mailed returns take up to 8 weeks to process.

Thanks for the reply that refund via a mail submission can take up to 8 weeks after the IRS receives the mail.  Can you also confirm advice that I should not file an amended return until I receive the refund from the original mail submission?

Corrected W=2

Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return -

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
