Can't start turbotax 2019. An error massage popped up after a while: "Update error! An error occurred while downloading the update. Please try again later."

After installed on my Mac and tried to start turbotax, a pop-up window recommends to update. The update starts but failed and a pop-up error massage window come up with "Update error! An error occurred while downloading the update. Please try again later." Tried many times, and can't go through this.

Did you purchase from TurboTax?   I suggest that the download might have not downloaded correctly or became corrupted.  But before doing the following I suggest restarting the Mac.

The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2019 data file that had already been created with the tax data.

To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

Trying to look at past year taxes to do some 2025 planning and I had the same error on every version I tried to open - 2023 and 2034. Would download a portion of an update and then stop and then "Update Error try again later.  Restart did not help. 

Workaround was to disconnect from internet (disable wifi and or ethernet connection) . Proceed to open Turbotax. Reconnect to internet,  check for updates in Turbo Tax.  This downloaded and installed the update without a problem.    NO REINSTALL !!!
