The tax deadline for 2023 returns was April 15, 2024. If you did not file an extension by April 15th, then the best thing you can do is to complete and file your returns as soon as possible. You may be assessed a late filing fee.
Take a look at the following TurboTax help articles for more advice:
What if I missed the April 15, 2024 filing deadline?
Can I file my return after April 15, 2024 without being considered late?
I should have clarified. I live in Massachusetts. The tax deadline is 4/17.
This doesn't help. 4/15 is not my tax deadline.
If TurboTax is not allowing you to file your state extension due to the differences in the filing deadlines, you can file the extension through MassTaxConnect or by mailing Form M-4868.

The federal deadline in MA is 4/17 not just the state deadline.
Yes, you are correct about the deadline being April 17, 2024 for residents of Maine and Massachusetts.
You can either mail in Form 4868, or you can use the IRS extension form. Follow this link for more.
only taxpayers in Maine and Massachusetts have until 11:59PM state time on 4/17 to e-file their federal sane state extension. (not sure about out of state extensions). That's because of the state holidays on 4/15 and 4/16. Turbotax may not have been programmed to allow for this. If you qualify and can't e-file you'll have to file by mail and give Turbotax 5 thumbs down.
