Can someone help me please?

I have completed my Federal taxes.  when i finish my State of La taxes on turbo tax, it says that my taxable income is 58775.  included in that figure is my Social Security income and my military income which are both not state taxable in Louisiana.  Any suggestions please?

The social security should be only showing any taxable amount automatically. The military should be marked as federal retirement benefits in the federal section.

In the federal section: 

1. please verify the social security is entered in the social security section of the program with the 1099-SSA instead of as a 1099-R.
2. please edit your 1099-R and go through all  the questions after the entry, it is a nonqualified plan.

In the state section:

You should see the income on Res Schedules when you view the return. To see your forms:

• In desktop, switch to Forms Mode. 
• For online, see How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

If not, go through the LA return.

1. Open the income adjustment section.
2. When you reach Any Other Income Exclusions?
3. You can enter one your military pay with code 04E and the amount.
4. The next screen will either say they already have the information and will delete the entry now or it will continue on and ask for your retirement date.
5. Then you can try the social security.  Only the taxable portion is entered here. This  should not be necessary to make the code 07E adjustment. You may get the screen saying it is already done and will delete that entry.
