Hi,
I need to exclude the taxable social security due to tax treaty. I am doing the taxes for someone, US Citizen living in one of the countries where social security is not taxed due to treaty.
I saw an answer in the forum that says to put in the negative of the taxable amount in Other Income, but that doesn't work since the taxable amount changes due to the other income.
I thought to override 6b "taxable part of the social security" to 0 and write on the dotted line, due to tax treaty.
The program is not allowing me to add detail. How can I add detail, other than printing, writing and mailing, which I'd rather not do.
Thanks !!

of course you can override a field. this will prevent e-filing and void Turbotax's accuracy guarantee. since you'll have to mail the return you can attach a hand-written explanation.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
I guess that's what I'll have to do.
I can't seem to find a way to negate just the taxable social security income in "other income".
I'll print, write an explanation, and mail.
Thanks!
