Why do you want two versions of 2020 software? What are you trying to do? If you have the CD/download you can use it now for any number of 2020 returns.....you cannot e-file 2020 returns now.. They have to be filed by mail.
My mom already have home and business installed but I saw that only 1 person can use the same software, is that correct? or can I use the home and business software that she has? That's why I bought the other version. I tried to install the 2020 software that I bought but because she already have the 2020 home and business installed, the computer was telling me to uninstall it before I could install the 2020 software I bought.
When you have Home and Business that is desktop software. It is installed on your own hard drive. It can be used to prepare and e-file up to five federal and state e-files. The only extra fee is to e-file states for $25, but you can print and mail the state for free. You do not need a second version of the desktop software to do another return.
Just open up the program from your hard drive---same way you open up other programs----then go to the tools on the TOP of the screen, click File and then click NEW RETURN. You do NOT "log in" to use desktop software.
But----each tax year there is new software for the specific tax year----2020 software, 2021 software, 2022 software----you cannot use 2020 software for a 2022 tax return.
Yes,I know.
Can I use this downloaded software to file up to 5 different people returns?
Yes---I told you that already. The download can be used for up to five federal e-files for 2022. No earlier tax year can be e-filed---only 2022. E-filing is closed for earlier years; earlier than 2022, the tax return has to be mailed.
