2022 State tax e-filed but still not accepted by the state

Hello,

I e-filed my fed and state return last night (04/17/2022) and noticed that it may not be accepted till 04/19/2022 which is past the deadline.   I already received confirmation that fed was accepted but I still haven't received confirmation on my Illinois state return.

1.  What happens if the state return is not accepted till 4/19?

2.  Even though I e-filed on 04/17/2022, will it be considered late if I don't receive confirmation till the 19th?

3.  If confirmation is not received till 19th, will I be penalized?

Thank you,

young11

No, you filed your state return on time. It is very common for the state to take up to a few days to be accepted. Your return is considered filed when you clicked submit, not when the state gets around to acknowledging your return.
