If you made 2022 estimated tax payments to the IRS those payments will need to be entered on your 2022 federal tax return that is filed next year.  If your tax liabilities on the 2022 tax return are less than your tax payments then you will receive a federal tax refund for the overpayment.

2022 1040 estimate payments made

Hello Jennifer 8,

So you sent in two estimated tax payments to IRS for 2022 and then realized you didn't need to.  Unfortunately, you will need to wait until you file your 2022 return and claim it then.

If you have a job with withholding  you could reduce the withholding at work for the rest of the year since you already sent in estimated payments.    Why did you send in the estimates?  Did you think they were for the current tax due?
