What can be done when a 1099R has a distribution code of 1 but the person took a withdrawal before age 59 1/2 and is on total disability. I see the IRA doesn't charge the 10% penalty if a person is on total disability. Do you get the 1099R amended?

If the Form 1099-R is incorrect then you will have to contact the plan administrator who provided the form to get a corrected Form 1099-R.
